A square sign now being frequently seen in several newspapers or magazines is called the QR Code or Quick Response, which is basically a two dimensional barcode originated from Japan. Invented by Denso-Wave in 1994, QR code features a fast response and is applicable to variety of products or media that prompt further information by interested audience. It could be the web site URL, which when scanned by a cell phone, allow user to immediately log on to that web site. No URL typing required.
QR code can be readily scanned by
cell phone with built-in camera. A prerequisite
QR code reader program is required for the cell phone to perform this function.
A number of cell phone brands and platform in Thailand may, however, not support this program. Nonetheless, newer models or smart phones usually have QR Reader installed from factory.
